The atlas collects together health, behaviour and socio-economic indicators for Māori. Most indicators compare Māori outcomes with those of non-Māori.
Crude rates (CR) represent the proportion of people in a population who have been diagnosed with the specified condition each year. It illustrates the actual burden of disease within a population and can be used to compare groups with the same age distribution.
For data comparing death rates between Māori and non-Māori check out the Hauora Online Atlas
District health boards (DHBs) are responsible for providing or funding the provision of health services in their district. There are currently 20 DHB's in New Zealand.
